A stunning new look for a heritage venue – Lakeside

Drawing inspiration from history.

Lakeside is a Grade II listed building set in attractive ornamental gardens. Dating back to 1873, it was originally Bestwood Pumping Station. One of three steam-powered plants built to supply clean water to Nottingham in the late Victorian era.Following a complete renovation by owners New Era Partnership, the facility has a new life as a leisure venue. Featuring bars and a restaurant perfect for weddings, parties and other events.

Branding for a Nottingham wedding and party venue.

Our Nottingham client needed a brand visual identity for Lakeside, to kickstart promotion of it – highlighting what it has to offer as a modern setting, while also celebrating its heritage.

A branding project.

With our imagination fired by the brief, The New Fat team produced a bold but simple logo design. The design deliberately combines the historic and modern in one unique brand.

Inspiration for the branding project.

We took inspiration from the old pumping station tower and incorporated an L for Lakeside. While also hinting at reflections in the lake which gives the venue its name. The logo’s curved side represents the decorative features of the original building. The straight side embodies the contemporary lines of the refurbishments.

We then used the branding to construct a new website for Lakeside, and applied it to bespoke templates for email marketing campaigns. You can read about the digital aspect of our work here.
